Opinion:   S.E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders” is a fantastic book about social classes clashing with one another in the 1960’s. This book revolves around Ponyboy Curtis; he is just trying to find his way in the world. He belongs to the lower social class known as “The Greasers”. His parents died when he was younger, so his older brother Darry is raising Ponyboy & his other brother Sodapop. Yes, those are really the names of the main characters! Then we see Ponyboy amongst his greaser friends when they start to clash with the upper social class known as “The Socs” (for The Socials). Many action packed, even major life struggles occur throughout this book. I will not go into detail about what occurs, because I feel that this book is a must read for any teenager out there. You will not be disappointed. If you like books about real life events and the struggles of finding your way in this world, then please read this book! It is packed with action & drama (no, not gossip drama, but REAL LIFE drama!), a real page turner. It is a great read about the clash between social classes; things that still occur today.
